If you are considering running a charity hike and are looking for walks here are a few suggestions:

The Art O’Neill Challenge:
Where: Dublin Length: 53k, Time: 10 – 15 hrs
Difficulty: Multiple – section one novice – section two moderate.
Description: Night into Day road and mountain walk, Starts after 10pm on a Friday at Dublin Castle finishing in Glenmalure, Co Wicklow the following day. Section one 25k Dublin Castle to Mountain stage, section two is a 28k mountain crossing at night. Suitable for groups of approximately 30 participants, could be completed by two groups with 30 participants in each.

Carrauntoohil Challenge:
Where: Co Kerry Length: 15k, Time: 7 hrs
Difficulty: Moderate.
Description: Climb Ireland’s highest mountain, 1040mts. Typically takes a full weekend to complete this challenge. Hostel/Group accommodation in Killarney and surrounding areas. Suitable for groups of up to 30.

Lugnaquilla Challenge:
Where: Co Wicklow Length: 12k or 20k, Time: 5 – 9 hrs
Difficulty: Moderate.
Description: Climb Leinster’s highest mountain, 925mts. Starts and finishes at one of the more remote pubs in Wicklow. Flexible hike can be lengthened to 20k for a greater challenge. Suitable for groups of up to 30.

The Mourne Mountain 3 Peeks Challenge, County Down
From Trassey Bridge to Bloody Bridge

Summits: 3, Difficulty: Moderate, Difficult for inexperienced hill walkers.
Distance 15k, Ascent 1150mt
Description: Route starts at Trassey Bridge in the west Mournes follows tracks over Slievenaglogh, Slieve Commedagh and Slieve Donard, the highest mountain in Ulster. The route descends to the sea at Bloody Bridge, near the areas where the television series A Game of Thrones is filmed.

Croagh Patrick Challenge:
Where: Co Mayo Length: 10k, Time: 5 – 7 hrs
Difficulty: Moderate.
Description: Climb Mayo’s most famous mountain, 764mts. Taking the pilgrims trail to the summit which has commanding views of Clew Bay. Flexible hike can be lengthened for a greater challenge. Suitable for groups of up to 50.

Cooley Mountains Moonlight Challenge:
Where: Carlingford Length: 13k, Time: 5 hrs
Difficulty: Novice to Moderate.
Description: Night time mountain walk, starts after dusk, any day of the week, weekends can be lively, adding to the Apres Hike entertainment!!! Suitable for groups of up to 50.
